Recovery & Aftercare
Safe recovery depends on procedure-specific instructions, regular follow-up, and early communication when something does not feel right.
This guide cannot diagnose a complication. If you are worried, contact the clinic. For a medical emergency, go to the nearest emergency department.
Take Medicines Only as Directed
Use prescribed medicines at the stated dose and schedule. Ask before adding pain relievers, supplements, or other medicines.
Protect Dressings and Wounds
Keep dressings, tapes, compression garments, or splints in place as instructed. Do not remove or replace them early unless told to do so.
Rest, But Move Safely
Balance rest with the gentle movement recommended for you. Avoid exercise, lifting, straining, or driving until cleared.
Expect Normal Change Over Time
Swelling, bruising, tightness, numbness, and asymmetry can occur early. Their pattern depends on the procedure and should be reviewed during follow-up.
Avoid Smoking, Alcohol, Heat, and Sun
These can affect healing. Follow the clinic’s instructions about bathing, heat exposure, swimming, and sun protection.
Keep Every Follow-up
Follow-up is part of the procedure. Do not skip wound checks or remove sutures, splints, or dressings on your own.
Know When to Call
Contact BienPoMD for worsening pain, unexpected swelling, bleeding, wound changes, fever, persistent vomiting, medication reaction, or anything that feels concerning.
Use Emergency Care When Needed
Severe shortness of breath, chest pain, fainting, confusion, uncontrolled bleeding, or a sudden serious symptom requires emergency medical care.
