What Is Upper Blepharoplasty?

Upper Blepharoplasty is eyelid surgery that removes selected excess skin and fat from the upper eyelids. The aim is to define the eyelid crease and make the eyes look less heavy or tired while keeping the result natural.

Who May Be a Candidate?

This procedure may be considered for patients with:

  • Monolids or a poorly defined eyelid crease
  • Loose or sagging upper-eyelid skin
  • Hooded lids that make the eyes look heavy or sleepy
  • Upper-eyelid skin that begins to fold over the lash line

An in-person examination is required. Dr. Bien will assess the eyelid skin, fat, muscle, natural asymmetry, eye health, previous procedures, medical history, and the result that is realistically possible.

The published price applies to a standard procedure under local anesthesia. Laboratory tests may be required if you are age 50 or older, have conditions such as hypertension or diabetes, or choose IV sedation. The original page estimates laboratory tests at ₱4,000–₱5,000 and lists the optional IV sedation upgrade at an additional ₱20,000. Final requirements, inclusions, and pricing are confirmed after assessment.

Upper Blepharoplasty can refresh the upper eyelids, but it cannot guarantee perfect symmetry, an invisible scar, or a particular eye shape. Swelling and bruising are expected during early healing, and results vary.

Frequently asked questions

Upper Blepharoplasty FAQs

Will there be a visible scar?

The incision is usually placed within the natural upper-eyelid crease. Scars often fade with time, but healing differs and no scar can be guaranteed to become invisible.

Will surgery change my eye shape?

The plan aims to define and refresh your existing eyelid shape, not redesign your eyes. The visible change depends on your anatomy and the amount of tissue that can be safely treated.

When can I wear eye makeup again?

The original guidance is usually around the second to third week, depending on wound healing and stitch removal. Follow the specific advice given during your postoperative visits.

Can it be combined with lower-eyelid surgery?

Yes, when appropriate. Upper and lower eyelid surgery may be planned together after Dr. Bien examines both areas and discusses the added recovery and risks.

When can I return to work or social activities?

Many patients plan around one to two weeks of light downtime. Bruising, swelling, work demands, and individual healing may change that timeline.

Can Upper Blepharoplasty be combined with under-eye fat grafting?

It may be combined in selected patients when both upper-eyelid heaviness and under-eye hollowing need treatment. Each procedure has separate benefits, limitations, and recovery considerations.
